Where does fear come from? Experts say it comes from trauma or something wrong in our brain. If that were true, there would be no such thing as courage or bravery. Also, everyone has trauma of one kind or another. In addition, we live in a fallen world with toxins everywhere. Something is wrong with all of us. So where does fear really come from? Fear comes from not knowing, believing, and accepting the truth. In essence, fear comes from believing lies. How does an abusive person get control? Through lies that cause fear in their victim. How does a trauma take over a person’s life? Through believing lies that feed the fear instilled by that trauma.
How do we know we're afraid? Do we make fun of someone or something? Many times outbursts of anger are a direct result of being afraid. Manipulating others? Bullying others or trying to control them? Do we isolate ourselves or make excuses for wrong behavior? Do we scheme or argue or deny what we know to be true?
We can all say with the Apostle Paul, "Wretched (humans) that we are, who is able to save us from this...death?" *Paraphrased from Romans 7:24 KJV
